The Journey

The journey began in 1990 with only fifty-three students. Smt. Bhavani Raguraman, the founder Headmistress, gave the school a strong foundation. During her tenure of 17 years (1990-2006) the school carved a niche for itself among all the leading schools in this area.

The Bhoomi Poojan of the School Auditorium named after ‘Sardar Mahadev Balwant Natu Sabhagriha’ was done at the hands of eminent scholar Dr. R.N. Dandekar in 1992 and inauguration of the same was done in 1997 at the hands of Smt. Sulochana Natu, the wife of ‘Shri. Mahadeo Balwant Natu’.

The year 1997 also witnessed the humble beginning of our Secondary Section.

The full-fledged library was established in 1998, wherein our students were allowed home issued facility of library books and special library periods were incorporated in the class time table.

Our first batch of SSC students passed out with flying colours in the year 2000 and the 100% result was a great source of joy and satisfaction to all of us. The Science Laboratory was established in the year 2000, where the students got an exposure to handle various equipments and perform experiments.

The Alumni Association was established under the able care of our Chairman Padmabhushan Dr. P.R. Dubhashi in the year 2010 with the objective of establishing a link between the ex-students and the present students. The strength after 25 years boasts of 1800 students with 68 teachers. With the active involvement, healthy rapport between parents and teachers, dedication and hard work by our wonderful students, the performance metrics of our school has scaled greater heights.

The school provides a rich, stimulating and satisfying environment to the students for the promotion of their all round physical, mental, moral and social development. It aims to instill self confidence in the child and help the students to value and use their freedom judiciously. Hence the purpose of this school is not only to impart instruction but also to educate the child as a whole. We give equal weightage to academics, sports, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The students are exposed to various activities at a very young age.

The school is fully equipped with excellent teaching aids in Science, Social Science, Maths and Literature. Apart from the regular school syllabus, projects in various subjects are undertaken. Activity based method of teaching is followed. By this method, the teacher gets closer to children and allows the child to interact, explore and discover.

We believe that comprehensive practical study is a necessary supplement to the theoretical classroom knowledge. Practicals enhance a student's observation power. We have a fully equipped Science laboratory for the senior students and a junior lab for the students of Std. III to VII . Thus, going beyond the realms of bookish knowledge, the students develop an open mind and it furthers their urge to learn more.

The library is an integral part of any school. At Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, we have a full fledged library with a seating capacity to accommodate a whole class. Students are motivated to enjoy silent reading, guided for selecting books and inspired to use reference books on diverse subjects.

After getting an overwhelming response from Parents in and around the periphery, the second shift started in the academic year 2015-16.

Now the school runs in two shifts with more than 1800 students studying in the school in the morning and afternoon shift altogether.

Right to Education

With the Right to Education Act from the academic year 2012-2013, 25% seats have been kept reserved for admission at the entry point to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Nursery which comes under the Chhabria Nursery School . These students after graduating from the Pre-primary are promoted to the Primary Section, which comes under Sulochana Natu Vidya Mandir. They are given admission to Std. I. .

The students in a play way method learn many things from these classes. Computer Education and other activities

The Computer Laboratory was established in 1995 where our students get a first hand experience at handling computers on their own. Educational system the world over has undergone a radical change.

From the days of the Gurukul to the chalk and board method, we have moved on to the computer aided teaching methods. In our school we use computers as a visual aid to supplement classroom teaching from Sr. KG and above and also computer science as subject from Class V and above. This form of computer aided teaching makes educating and getting educated a truly joyous experience. It enriches subject knowledge in students and increases teaching efficiency. Our goal is to make our students better equipped and to ensure that they learn the skills required to put contemporary knowledge into practice.

The school prepares students for middle school scholarship examinations conducted by the Government of Maharashtra, Mathex Examination conducted at the state level and Saral Sanskrit Examination, Hindi Rashtrabhasha Examination and receives excellent results in all these examinations every year. Students also participated in other competitive examinations viz. Cyber Genius, Mathematics, Science and Cyber Olympiad, National Talent Search, sports etc.
